yeah, mine are nitrile so I'd expect they will be ok ?Unsure if size is the only criteria here .
The material may be important as well?

yeah ive seen some upgrade stuff for them, not bothered about that sort of thing just a normal smooth box will doThere are all sorts of kits out there to 'improve' this transmission , more importantly there are kits to repair the solenoids and shuttles including 'blue top' solenoids from MB that allegedly speed up gear selection.
Kits are often from USA where this transmission is fitted to many Chrysler cars , and MB's obv's.
This kind of thing , other 'mods' also available out there.

I have done the sleeve upgrade to mine and not noticed any difference. Best thing I did was buy a coolant damaged transmission, take the valve block out and wash everything, then put together and swapped the whole valve body.yeah ive seen some upgrade stuff for them, not bothered about that sort of thing just a normal smooth box will do

I'm struggling to source the correct orings, but will give a call to a ZF dealer tomorrow.
Meyle stuff is German made so can't be that bad and its got to be much better than the Chinese crap !!!! I don't have any codes but as im doing a service it makes sense to replace the conductor plate while im in their, with 74.000 miles on it who's to say the plate is near end of life anyway ? the plug is being replaced by a genuine Merc one as is the oil and filter. Not much a fan of Meyle stuff and there's no need to replace it unless you have codes. Replace the plug which is more important as it can fail and leak oil into the TCU.
My 5g is on 108k with no plate issues , my 7g is 138k with no issues either .Meyle stuff is German made so can't be that bad and its got to be much better than the Chinese crap !!!! A genuine Merc plate was just too expensive right now !!!!!!!!
The 211 is now over 140k,My 5g is on 108k with no plate issues , my 7g is 138k with no issues either .
5G conductor plate only suffers if driven extremely hard, as it runs fairly cool. The 211 is now over 140k,
the 639 will be 200k shortly.
Neither seem to have a problem.
well its done, ive ordered the parts and when i get some decent weather i'll fit it. it must be a mechanic thing, when you strip something you tend to check/replace other bits while you are in their !!!!! no point in doing half a jobMy 5g is on 108k with no plate issues , my 7g is 138k with no issues either .
the last owner was an old guy so i can't see him thrashing it !!!! but no idea how any of the other owners treat it ? it is a sport so it might of had a hard earlier life ???????5G conductor plate only suffers if driven extremely hard, as it runs fairly cool.
The 7G conductor plates used to fail before they added the extra cooler and more converter clutches in 2007 production to reduce running temperature below 120⁰C
Hard to say. I would maybe inspect, but not worry about it if all looks good.the last owner was an old guy so i can't see him thrashing it !!!! but no idea how any of the other owners treat it ? it is a sport so it might of had a hard earlier life ???????
I'll put the new one in anyway, but i'll keep the old one just in caseHard to say. I would maybe inspect, but not worry about it if all looks good.
Meyle stuff is German made
it hasn't been delivered yet.Can you show me the box where it says 'made in Germany'?
Probably ZF production line rebranded to Meyle. I believe that's the only way Meyle and made in Germany can really go together.why do i get the feeling im pissing against the wind here ? im trying to do the best i can with limited funds to make my car as reliable as i can, but keep getting negative vibes of people !!!!
if a part says its made in Germany but its not is that illegal ? or if its made under licence then the part should be as good as the original country of manufacture.
by the way ive used Meyle parts on other makes of cars and been perfect.
Crack on Tony Gee and don't take too much notice of us old grunters. We're trying to be helpful I promise.why do i get the feeling im pissing against the wind here ? im trying to do the best i can with limited funds to make my car as reliable as i can, but keep getting negative vibes of people !!!!
