This is my first Merc so not fully clued up, had a look at the FAQ's but couldn't find the answer. I own a CLS 350 CDI (13 plate), I can see from the previous owners service history it had a Service A done at 59673, so expected the Service B to come up 15.5k miles later, however it's popped up on the dash last week and the mileage is only 66540 so 6,867 since the last service. This doesn't feel right at all.

The last service was from an independant. There is a service history attached which shows the previous Service B carried out at 56,378.

Is the Service between B and the next B 15.5k miles or is it between Service A and B and then back to A. Either way it's not been 15.5k between A or the previous B service.

Welcome to the forum.
The service interval is either 15500 miles or 12 monthly, whichever comes soonest.
You are correct in thinking its an A/B/A/B frequency with additional items like ATF /Air filters, plugs etc at differing intervals.

My E class did 3400 odd miles between services. Still need to have it done if the 12 months are up.
I had one of mine serviced today and had only done 800 miles since the last service a year ago. I only just realised though that there was no reminder on the cluster!!??

Was the service reminder reset after the previous service?

Has the car been serviced on time every year? I suspect that at some point a service has been done late - or by someone who doesn’t understand the difference between A and B services and one of them is out of sequence.

Even if the car hasn’t turned a wheel, it will be due a service 12 months after the cluster was reset from the last service. Of course it’s completely your choice, you can choose to skip a service should you so wish.

I assume so, if hadn’t been reset then it would have been bugging me stating that it was overdue.

Firstly, thank you for the really nice, kind and warm welcome with all the great replies, secondly I realised i've not posted enough information so here is a bit more.

Interim Service carried out on 27.02.20 by an Indi @ 61,351 (Transmission oil filter change)
Service A carried out on 14.01.20 by an Indi @ 59,673
Service B carried out on 20.02.19 by MB @ 56,378
Service A carried out on 27.02.18 by MB @ 42,959

All the services by the two Indi's are MB, so by that I'm thinking the Service B that has popped up on the dash is not due until 71k as i'm on 66k. Is that correct thinking?

The mileage is irrelevant (because it less than 15,500 annually).

Your car is due Service B on 14/01/2021.

It will also need the following:
- Cabin/pollen filter change
- Air filter change
- Fuel filter change (if Diesel)
- Spark plugs change (if petrol)
- Brake fluid change

It's a big service.... find a good independent specialist, or consider signing-up to an MB Service Care Plan.
