C220
Hello from Ireland.

I am considering travelling to the UK to purchase a C220 Sport diesel. Originally I was looking to purchase a 5 Series (having owned a 3) but first glimpse at the C220 sport and I like!

Now here's the problem; i'm a total Merc noob.

Here is what i'd be looking for spec wise:
July 2008+
Leather
Air Con
Front Fogs
Xenon lights would be nice
Parking sensors

The above is what i'd need, anything else would be a bonus. The main problem is I don't know the difference between different models / specs

I am open minded whether saloon / estate (i'd go for either)
Manual is fine but auto (if not troublesome) would be a nice change

Can anyone please offer advise to a clueless person?! Thanks

Do it mate! U won't regret it. I came from a BMW 3 convertible with all the trimmings and wanted something more comfortable and spacious. I looked at the 5 series e60 models too but fell in love with c220 Cdi AMG sport when I saw it and test drove it. Surprisingly the hardest thing I found from ur list of wants on the car when I looked was the parking sensors. A lot of cars without.
In terms of gearbox I got the auto and it's a pleasure to drive!

Hope it helps

Yes, a good choice of car and wish list.
I would recommend the V6 320 CDi engine though.
Much quieter than the 4 pot 220, much quicker and smoother. Go for an auto box.
Fuel consumption from mine averages 44m/g.

Agree with the above - especially going for an Auto box, that really is a must!

However, I believe the original poster is from Ireland - the tax out there on the V6's / above 3 litre will be very expensive.

Thanks for the feedback folks.

As much as I would love a 3 litre, my limit because of the tax band is the 220. A 3 litre over here will cost you about 1600 euro per year on tax alone!
