Evening all.

My Merc Specialist has a 300E saloon which they are about to break, which has the full Sportline upgrades.

I've requested a price for swapping the steering box and front anti roll bar for the items in my non-Sportline equipped.

My car does have lowered suspension and (now has) Sportline-spec Bilstein shock absorbers - that person who lowered it originally kept the original shocks, which consequently destroyed themselves

It's been a long time since I have driven a Sportline car, but do remember it being alot better than a completely standard car.

However, what I was wondering is this.....
Should I still be able notice an improvement in the steering and handling with the uprated Sportline steering box and the thicker anti roll bar? (It's worth noting I would be having new bushes applied to the roll bar, prior to any installation).

Many thanks,

Darren

You will notice the more direct steering [ provided the "scrapper box" is good of course] worst come to the worst you could get it reconned- whereas you can't upgrade a standard box. Not so sure about the roll bar thing since changing only the front bar might unbalance the car somewhat unless you upgrade the rear ARB also which is a fiddly job-- involving dropping the subframe IRRC

I would be interested in the improvement you find as I feel upgrading the steering would be very worthwhile.

Do you also have the smaller steering wheel to go with it ?

Considering the car is a 300e,I doubt he`ll have much use of that steering wheel

I already have a smaller air bag sculpted wood and leather steering wheel I fitted a while ago :)
