Continual delays on delivery - What options do I have?

Hello everyone,

I placed an order for a E class sometime in April and I was promised the car in June.

Eventually the delivery date got delayed to July end and today I was told that the production date of the car is now July and will be delivered only in August.

Frankly I am getting a bit annoyed at how I am being treated (no follow ups from the sales agent either despite frequent callback requests).

What options do I have? I was relying heavily on the car being delivered and I am even considering switching brands due to this experience.

1. Ask the dealer if he will provide a loan car for the period of the delay.
if no,
2. Cancel your order, go somewhere else but will you get something in the time required?

Is there known precedence for dealers giving loan cars due to delivery issues?

Was also shocked to see how there is no written commitment on delivery, so much for German efficiency.

Is it a failing in German efficiency or an over commitment by the dealer?

I have no idea about precedence but got to be worth the ask, costs nothing...

Ask the dealer what the factory has given as the build date. A while back, I had this problem albeit ordering a new MB from Denmark. It turns out that MB Denmark never placed the order with the factory (or the factory had rejected the order) and I only discovered this when I asked for the factory build date on the 3rd delay.

A quick email to my local MEP had MB Germany calling me offering me a confirmed factory build date and a small discount as compensation!

Dont think the dealer quoted me anything other than what appears on the mercedes benz system after he placed the order.

I think the supply chain issue they are facing with component shortage has let me down!

I was given the factory build date right from when I confirmed the order so I dont think this is it unfortunately.

How about a photo of the FAB SL55 ?

Out of curiosity, how does that work with the MEP getting involved?

Great, if you have been given a failed build date from the factory then you should take it up directly with MB UK. With luck they may offer you at least a token discount/compensation.

Quick update folks, the dealer said the date has been "updated" to align with the planned delivery date they offered the second time around so not too worried now.

In fact they told me that MB has been bring forward delivery dates and cars that were due for mid July delivery are already being handed over to owners.

Thanks for the support!
