OK, so this morning as usual I walked to work around 15/20 mins through Chester. Must have spotted at least 20 if not more convertibles. MX5, TT, SLK, SL, Nissan 350, Saab, Audi A4, mini's etc etc

EVERY one had the roof UP, and even worse some had the roof up but side windows down????

What is it with people, its an absolutely lovely day. Why pay extra and not use it?

When I had my various converibles the roof was almost always down, so much so on a Z3 I had the back window was replcaed three times as it creased from having it down :) Your even ok in the rain at speed (just look a muppet when you stop) but even then most now raise / lower in seconds..

These days with heated seats, wind deflectors, air scarfs etc they are a lot more snug..

Please if you have one use it.

I use to love driving in roof down, starts your day in a great mode.

Rant over thank you.

Chester....is that where all the Man U players live? I guess people don't want to spoil their designer hair styles ;)

Joke aside.....I'm 100% with you. I wouldn't mind trying out a VW Eos for a while.

Thats VW Eos has a very neat feature

Full metal convertible but also a full panaramic sunroof built into the roof. Best of both worlds.

aaarrggghhh it does annoy me sad I know but I miss my convertibles so when I see them not being used......

We have a CLK Cab courtesy car this week - went to Asda yesterday (barely a mile away) and still had the roof down!!!

It's fantastic driving around with nowt but fresh air around you....

i'm with you on this, i'm topless whenever possible! :D

just can't help myself when i see a 'vert with the roof up & i give an involuntary "grrr, why bother?!"

I'm with you on that - can't afford a new-ish CLK Cab so am looking at alternates and personally like the Eos.

when i had my CLK cabrio i found anything under about 12 degrees on the outside temp guage meant it was really too cold to have the top down....

ok it may be sunny and you could have the top down but it was pretty grim in the cold air.

i'm going to have to be braver when the SL is ready this summer :thumb:

That's why it has heaters and heated seats!!!

IMO it's the best of the bunch (Focus, 307, Megane, A3)
Its 5 piece roof allows for a shorter A-pillar and boot over-hang, giving the car more elegant proportions than the others.

Dad-in-law has the Megane CC - I quite like it but can't bring myself to own another French car!!! Always enjoyed my German cars......

So you have a car and walk to work?:p Just kidding, I agree! Read elsewhere about the window up or down thing, which I'm indifferent about, but I always laugh when I see a 129 SL (which I have) with the rollover bar up (unless there are kids inthe back)!!

I'm with you on this, too A210AMG.
When my parents go out in their convertible, it's a case of "roof down, unless it's tipping it down". They went out on a sunny day in December, roof down despite the fact it was about 5 degrees!
I was with Dad the other day and we drove through a minor rain shower with the roof off  :D

Like you say, you pay for a convertible roof, you might as well use it!

The again, if it's a person's daily driver and they're driving 15 minutes down the road, I can see why it wouldn't be worth it.

Sometimes you have to make a load of phone calls on the way to work .... thats my excuse plus if Im in the Aston I still feel very self conscious top less but Im working to overcome it

I think the 'roof down all the time, every time' is a bit of a give away that someone is a new convertible owner TBH.

It usually passes.

You need a better hand free set up then...My brother had a Saab Aero vert with a superb kit, saab install came through speakers etc. Up to around 80 mph you could have a normal conversation :)

Or wait until you get to office and switch your phone on :)

I could get over the self conscious issue for you easily. I could drive your car roof down. As I said you paid extra for it so a waste not to use it :)

I only ever drive my SL with the roof down, unless I'm unlucky enough to get caught out in the rain.:)

Get a wind deflector, they are well worth the money.
