has anyone had this done to there's or know what's involved? Would valve seats have to be done or would it just require a simple timing adjustment?

sorry, i dont know if the valve seats are hardened or not but if they arent you can get an automatic upper cylinder lube/valve seat protector fluid dispenser which administers a small amount of fluid into the inlet manifold. its called a flashlube, theyre not expensive, theyre meant for running vehicles with soft valve seats on lpg, as you cant use a conventional additive in lpg. its available from lpg parts suppliers.

I run my '79 280CE on unleaded without any problems - I believe all 280s after about 76 are ok.

Please dont quote me on this, but id have thought your engine would already have the hardened valve seats fitted from new, as the American market has been using unleaded since the 70's and I'm sure they wouldn't have two different engine production lines, one for Europe and one for America!!!! If you get what i mean.
