C250 CDI Estate (S204)
Hi,

I've done so much searching on the forum on this topic that I'm thoroughly confused.

I have a 2014 (though 2013 built I think) W204 CDI 250 that has a couple of times now in the last 6 months popped up with a coolant top-up warning, which is something I'm keeping an eye on in itself checking for Fuel filter housing/water pump leeks etc. I've topped up with a ~200ml of tap water or so in the past, but don't want to keep doing that so would like to get my hands on the correct coolant/antifreeze.

Can anyone advise ? I appreciate colour isn't a good indicator of the specification of the coolant, but mine is a yellow/gold colour in case that helps I don't believe it's been changed from the day the car came out the factory as I've owned from c2 years old.

Much Appreciated.
Mark

Same colour that's in.

I would buy from EPC.

Thanks, but what specifically am I buying based on what looks like a yellow/gold in there currently.

Walk in to ECP and ask for a yellow antifreeze and I'm not convinced I'm going to walk out with the right thing.

325.0 seems to be the correct stuff for the age of the car, just a different colour which perhaps is no concern - I've never owned a car were is was so ambiguous exactly what coolant might be in there.

Then a mucky brown will be the result.

But why should I worry?

Just buy Merc stuff from Merc. Mercedes Newcastle and Edinburgh have eBay stores and are keen on price. Message them your VIN and they will likely set up a listing for you, or direct you to the correct listing.

If you don't have eBay, either give MB Grangemouth parts department a call and they can post, or it's the local Merc dealer (which is the easiest option, but might be the most exensive). At any rate, you guarantee the correct fluid.

Don't bother with aftermarket in this instance.

👍 😂

Yes, what he said.

Sorry Skd884, I didn't click on the link.

Op, if you want to make doubly sure, you can message the ebay seller in the link with your VIN or Reg No, and they will also confirm if this is correct.

I suspect the link is also one of the best priced examples you will find for the coolant.

The blue coolant goes yellow over time.

£29.99

Wow, great price!

5L of bog standard ECP whatever isn't far off that!

Thanks all, appreciate your input - will do as you advise.

Especially interesting to know the blue coolant turns yellow over time!
