Dear all,

I have a slight leak from somewhere around the coolant pump. Please see pictures attached.
Looks like it's leaking from the pump itself as there are splashes all over the place.

My 1st question is: What should I replace?
- the entire plastic assembly including the water pump?
- just water pump [5] ?
- just gaskets [7] [50] [30] ?

2nd question - how to fill the system back with coolant?
I've seen some tutorials showing that it needs to be drained and filled using some pressurised machine with gauge (???)
Or is it as easy as drain using the tap at the bottom and fill trough the reservoir?
I am afraid of air lock (!)

Lastly, Mercedes recommends green coolant fluid but I can see that pink was used in my car (?)

Many thanks in advance for all tips and suggestions.

Martin

The MB water pump is revised from the original and comes with the part that bolts to the engine and all the pipes.
I would see what the price of an MB one is compared to the others which only seem to include the rotating part.

If you are replacing all the pipes with the MB pump, having a hoseclip pliers will make it easier.

Drain the coolant from the bottom of the radiator and, when the job is done, fill through the expansion tank. Leave the filler cap off when starting the car initially. I have heard that you should park the car on a slope with the rear lower than the front to help stop air locks. Also put the heating in the car up to max to get the coolant to circulate.
Keep an eye on the coolant level for the first few days after doing the job.

Just get coolant to the correct spec and don't worry about the colour.

Thank you very much Steve,

Do you know the part number by any chance?

Would that be the right one?

Thanks

Martin
