Correct Alternator for a - Mercedes ML 270 cdi Auto 2002 W163

I am thinking of replacing my Alternator on my - Mercedes ML 270 cdi Auto 2002 W163 - VIN: WDC1631132A351853
How will i know which is the correct alternator for my vehicle, as they have different Amperage ranges etc.

A few days ago I went through a deep puddle or rather a flooded road going to Manchester, and soon after, my battery warning light has started coming on and off intermittently ( every 40 seconds or so ), and the alternator is now not charging...... ALSO the alternator bearing is also become somewhat noisy !

PS. This does not turn the CDI into an electric Mercedes, other sub-forums would likely give you better advice.
