Just been cleaning ready for tomorrow and found a patch of 'bubbling' on the c pillar (or b pillar, seeing as it doesn't have a b pillar) in the corner.

About 1/2 inch patch

Will see what the dealers say when it goes in for a service in a few weeks...

 that's not good news. Be interested to hear how this one pans out.

Good luck m8 ;)

Come on, most E-Class and some C-Class have this, a range topping CL wouldn't be seen without.

Have the dealer check the whole car, especially rear quarters around the arches.

At least you know your bonnet's Ok.

You know what spooky about this, I was thinking about whether the CL was affected this afternoon whilst looking at my mates S class which has rusty arches. Thats bad news mate, hope you get it sorted

The CL is affected but at least corrosion on aluminium is easy to deal with. It doesn't continue to spread after the repair is done. With steel a small speck of rust can continue to spread after painting.

Maybe it's upmarket rust.

Just been to the MB bodyshop near me and they have taken the photo's and service book copy, to submit a request through to MBUK for the work. It's going to get done, but just needs to go through the correct channels first, which could take 5 weeks before work starts.

He mentioned this area is a common problem on the CL, and it could be worse than it is, as the roof C pillar which slopes down, goes down into the rear panel body work, where it blots to the chassis.

They will need to undo this bolt to give them room to work. They will then fix and respray this 10" area, and re-laquer the whole roof area, so the bloke said.

Lets see what happens. Eitherway i'm going to push for something better than a Corsa that I had last time!

Good luck mate!

How about a Vauxhall Agila :p :D hehe. Good luck getting it sorted, though I imagine the application for warranty repair is just a formality :) hopefully you'll get it all sorted.

Look, if they offer you a Corsa with a 5.5 litre V8 Kompressed engine, just take it :D

Hope it all works out. Accept nothing but the best.

Holy crap, if I had spent £100k I would want the head on a plate.

Any update?

How did the repair go?
i have just been told that local dealerships are not "allowed" to touch CL bodywork - my car (wheel arch corrosion) will be inspected and repaired by an MBUK nominated CL bodywork specialist (Arlington of Bedford?)
I live on surrey/Sussex border!

Just read this.. you must be livid.

Hope all works out and give em hell.

I am sure an S55 would do nicely while the beast is having a makeover.

maff how old is your cl?.i'm thinking of changing my c class for a c32 or an audi s4 ,i'm starting to lean more to the audi every day.

The rust was on Maffs CL55 (his last car) and not the CL65 he has now. IIRC it was about a year old....

Gotta love MB panel prep

MB sent my CL600 to Hughes of Beaconsfield (50 miles away) who gave me a Micra (!) for the TWO weeks it took to do the work. MB gave no hassle about Mobilo warranty. Job cost MB £1800+vat for rear wheel arches and bottom corrsion on bottom of doors (I hadn't noticed the latter).
