Doh,

I used to follow the posts relating to corrosion with a smug grin on my face 'cos my 1999 W202 estate was perfect. I had checked all the known nooks and crannys (like under the door rubbers) and not a spot.

But now, horror of horrors, i've got bubbling coming up on the underside of the tailgate where the metal is turned over and welded. There is also some pitting developing on the outside of the tailgate and around the number plate lights.

This is not the sort of thing you expect on a 6 year old car (let alone a Merc). The 10 year old Peugeot I sold last year was perfect.

My question is this. I brought the car second hand in December. It did not have the servicing book but was an ex-company car supplied by Avis and has a computer print out of all the servicing intervals and parts replaced, mileages etc. I can't take it back to the dealer from which it came because I don't know who this is. I don't suppose Avis would be very helpful either. I haven't approached a local stealer yet but I was thinking of writing to Customer Services at DCUK. Do you think I would get anywhere with this. Even a partial contribution would be a help. Or perhaps I should just take it to a body repair specialist and pay myself.

If anybody has a contact Name at Head Office I would appreciate it.

Ta.

Edit:

I managed to find the address of DC UK and have sent them a nice letter. I don't suppose they will be falling over themselves to help me out but miracles sometime happen!
