Cost of your B1 service, where....

Garage you bought it from is talking through it's fundamental orifice. For a start, there's a good chance you have the previous owners name and address on the V5, for seconds there's nothing to stop them printing/photocopying the invoices and cutting off the bits with the owner's details. Went through all of this with MB Brentford when I bought the S203. When I bought the s204 MB Ashford printed off the service invoices (they'd supplied the car new and serviced it) and gave them to me without me asking. GDPR - bullsh***t!!

Have you considered a Mercedes service plan?
Can work out fairy reasonable with all extras thrown in over a number of services.

As I said, there will be many opinions on your dilemma. How different is the cheapest MB quote opposed to your indy?

I would still use the cheapest MB option

kc
Perhaps I should use a more central location other than Inverness... maybe try Glasgow or Edinburgh!! Might get a better deal than Inverness.
Thank you
Don't even think about Glasgow! Nor Giffnock or Hamilton, they are all Stratstone outfits and basically useless at best.

Thx for all that, kinda blown my non mechanical mind. I have no service history, the garage I bought it from wouldn’t give it to me for legal reasons as it had previous owners address on it etc..... all I know is it hasn’t been to a merc garage since 2016....

Put your reg and details into the MyMercedesService page, will show last time it was serviced by them.

Stick your reg. up here and there are a few of us that can send you the DSB.

Oh and don't go anywhere near Arnold, they don't have a clue.

MB of Edinburgh (Newbridge) would be good but they know how to charge, I'd take it to a good Indy that only uses MB parts and can do the DSB.

Thx so much for all your help and advice peeps I really do appreciate it xx

Hi Jim, no atm I haven’t, and in all honesty didn’t know they existed till a couple of folk mentioned them today. Maybe indeed something to consider

Personally I would either take the car to a good specialist such as PCS at Horndean (BlackC55), or I would take out a Mercedes Benz Care Plan to cover the next 2 (or 3) services.

But booking a single service with the dealer is about the worst thing you can do financially speaking.

If you want too I can look the history up for you and advise what the cost would be here for a B1 service and what it includes. We are at the other end of the country so not much good to you but it will give you an idea of the cost difference between independent specialist and main dealer. Send me an email if I can help: [email protected] with your registration on and I can get some info for you :)

Hi there, thank you so much. That’s very kind of you I’ll do that just now.

Your all amazing. Ty so much.... turns out it needs everything done as nothing been done for over 3 years, so I’m biting the bullet and getting everything done in one go including gear oil change etc etc etc at an Indy garage which has great customer service and reviews.... and yes I’ll keep all paperwork etc proving it’s been done unlike my poor girls last owner!!
Thanks again everyone

Claire xx

If you're planning on getting regular services at an MB dealership, as others have said, it's worth considering the service care plan - you can view the current pricing here (which would be locked for the duration of your agreement - none of this "inflation linked increase" nonsense that other companies seem to get away with every year):

https://tools.mercedes-benz.co.uk/c...ervice-care-pricing.pdf?owda=misc&owda=miscpp

From the date MB complete a service on your vehicle, you get 12 months complimentary Mobilo breakdown cover.

And you can use any MB dealership nationwide for your services, so you're not locked to your local dealership.

+1 for Service PLan.

My indie cannot compete with the MB service plan because it includes all the necessary service items like pollen filters, air filters and even the dreaded auto gearbox oil and filter change. Brake fluid changes also included in mine leaving only wiper blades, brake pads and discs being the 'optional' extras!

So now regular servicing by MB service plan and all other advisory items done my indie.

My B1 service was £202 Inc Vat and all extras at 4 years of age at my local indy. They also have access to DSB so it's all updated on there as well

I've been quoted £375 for an A7 service which includes the auto transmission fluid change this year.

£202 for a full B-Service is a really good price - this is cheaper than an A-Service at my MB Dealership. Amazing!

Wow this is an amazing price for an A service plus auto transmission change! A transmission fluid and filter change is circa £250, given that the original MB parts for the transmission oil, filter and sump gasket is circa £100.
