could my headunit connect to an amplifier? [pics!!]

Yes, its an old pioneer unit, i like these old units best (they actually look like car stereos ) it should have either one or two flying pre-outs on the back of it (these will be wires with phono plugs on the end, like you put in the back of your hi-fi at home). Hopefully on the top of the cage it will have a wiring diagram (there will be lots of wires :) ) and from this you can deduce which one the 'amp trigger lead' is going to be (this tells the amp when to switch on).

If it has just one set of 'pre-outs' and you want to run a four channel amp, you will need to buy a splitter ( about £3 from ebay or a electronics accessory shop)

Connect it up and away you go !
