I've changed the plugs on all my previous cars, but this looks like a complicated job, if anybody can post a link with instructions or can post a how to video or pics, it would be greatfully appreciated.

Cheers

If I remember from mine;

1. Air filter and inlet pipe off (plastic pipe that goes over the engine)
2. Unbolt the cover plate, top of the engine, allen head bolts, silver in colour,
3. Pull the leads out, there are 2 leads per coil, the coil should remain where it is,
4. A very long extension piece on you socket (12" should do it) to get down into the to where the spark plugs are,
5. Undo the spark plugs, fit new ones, put your engine bay back together

They are actually under the aluminium plate on the top of the engine? who would have guessed! thanks lads, I'll attack it tomorrow.

You may need a torx bit to undo the cover plate. If the air inlet cross over pipe is not screwed to the camshaft cover its usually hooked into slots. If you undo the jubilee type clip connection to the throttle body and unclip the lid of the air cleaner you can slide everything sideways- to the left as you are looking from the front . On some 4 cylinder engines the 2 coils are actually mounted on top of 2 of the plugs and each have a single flying spark plug lead to their twinned plug ( make a small drawing of the connections before you detach anything). You may have to detach the coils to access their plugs underneath. Handle all the leads with great care and try not to bend them too much as the insulation can become brittle with heat/age. Don't over tighten the plugs in the alloy head!

11 Newton Meters is the torque setting for the plugs. Invest in a small torque wrench for this job. Also worth considering a little copper slip on the plug threads before fitting them.

In my humble opinion lefty-gt,I prefer to put an air jet in the spark plugs bay before undo them,just to drive any residues out.
Good luck.
Pardon my English! ;)
