Apologies if this has been posted before.....

This weekend we have been given an 09 Reg CLK280 Cabriolet as a courtesy car whilst our A Class gearbox problem is sorted!

It has almost all the options including Sports pack, heated seats, COMAND etc etc. Absolutely lovely but 22mpg takes a bit of getting used to!

Question is - what is the best courtesy car you've had? Doesn't have to be an MB but am just interested!!

Is certainly the best one we've ever had and funnily enough I have been looking at buying one too....

not me, but my mate who has an E36 m3 evo convertible got the new E90 M3 convertible as courtesy car:) we had fun in that!

How comes you lot get such good cars? Best I had was a new corsa! 3k on the clock. And vomit yellow colour.

ackee911...i said the same thing when i saw him pull up in his 58 convertible m3...the alloys and tyres probably cost more than his E36 m3...

i think some insurance provide you with like for like courtesy car at extra charge or sometimes they give you a car from same category, which kind of counts as like for like

I got Andy Gayle's 300,000mile 300E once.

And Jay's got a lovely Toyota ;)

Years ago, when I had a Fiesta XR2, (yes, I was young once) Stormont performance car centre in Liverpool lent me.......

Orion Injection (XR3i but with a boot), the Service Manager's car
Capri 2.8, the Sales Manager's car
Sierra Cosworth, the General Manager's car

All three were returned without body damage, but with substantially less tread on the tyres.......

Last time we had one was the 420Cdi GL... What an impressive engine :)

All I can say is well done and I hope you were out in it all day today in the rare sunshine :D:D:D

The last time I was supposed to get a courtesy car ( Usually an A class) I was told that the previous customer hadn't returned it as yet and all they could offer me was a lift home

I used to get a Smart when my TVR was being serviced which was great fun. Now with the Bentley dealer I use you get a new Bentley loaner. But I'm a bit reluctant to have a loan car these days since someone did nearly a grands worth of damage to one while in my care.

From MB it was a 1 litre Toyota Yaris diesel courtesy of Mobilolife (and which took 4.5 hours to deliver after a breakdown).

I've just received a letter in the post "In order to ensure that the services we provide are maintained to the highest standards, we would appreciate a few moments of your time to complete a questionnaire on your assistance experience."

Yes, I think I can spare a moment or two...

A S320 cdi - when my W210 was recovered after the fuel pump went.

More normally various A class, a C220 cdi and a E220. Waiting to see what BMW give me now!

I took my wife to the hairdressers for highlights, and they lent me Keira Knightley ......

Then i woke up.

.

I once got a ford ka 1.3l style.. and I defy anyone to tell me where the "style" was in that car..

so no, I don't think I've had anything terribly exciting..

This is the big thing about loan cars. Its why I usually choose to use public transport when my car needs work done. When the AA damaged my car they kept on saying we'll give you a courtesy car, but suppose some swine comes and scratches it? Then i'll have to pay up, right? So, I lose out. No thank you.

Don't see how that's any different to someone damaging your own car. You still have to pay to put it right, at least if it's a courtesy car then you don't have the keep the damaged one...

Not quite-there was a 1000 pound excess on the new 3 series I had which someone kindly reversed into and didn't leave any details.

Thing is, if its your own car, you can get it repaired whenever you like and however you like. e.g. if the fron bumper has been damaged a new one will cost £££ however a second hand one which has been re-sprayed will work out cheaper.

With someone else's car you have to pay for it to be repaired straight away and from wherever they decide they want it repaired from.

Normally the £10 or so they ask you to pay is for the excess waiver.

One of the things I like about my insurer (Frizzell, aka Liverpool Victoria) is that loan cars are fully covered automatically.

My Bmw dealer offers the cdw but it was not compulsory. I always take the extra fee when I have a hire / loan car now. 'Twas an expensive lesson.
