Ive got two brand spanking new rear wheels,so I thought id post some close up pics of what im left with.


Old wheel cracked in three places.

A powdercoated wheel with the repair a friend did last year.

Photos 3 and 4 ... Is this a half-assed attempt at a weld repair ?

The weld repair to the powder-coated wheel actually goods quite a good job.
(I have said some unkind things, in the past, about my lack of confidence in weld repairs to alloy wheels).
Just keep your eye on it, as they have a tendency to fail along the edges of the weld repair.

Its in the stress relief that a weld gains maximum long term chance of success.

Pics 3 and 4 are the reverse of pic 5, exactly as it came off the car,the welded wheel was done about a year ago and wont be going back on.

I dont know what the scrap value is for alloys at the moment,next time I do some copper i'll take them in.
