Crankshaft position sensor failed. Higher repair cost than expected!

An interesting first post, are you selling theses?

Well if you want one you'll have to order it off Lily... because you can't order it from the Amazon link provided... it says "This item does not ship to London, United Kingdom.". FAIL :)

I had the CPS sensor pack up on my 928GTS pack up when I had it, at 90 mph in the offside lane of a dual carriageway on a left hand bend which was quite interesting. What I hadn't bargained on was just how seized in it was and due to it's location it was difficult to get to, in the ensuing effort to prise it out I snapped the tendon in my right middle finger which has never healed properly A friend ended up having to put a length of scaffold pole across the engine bay and having loosened it with plenty of WD40 and brute strength with mole grips managed to prise it out with a breaker bar across the scaffold pole and several snapped cable ties.

Well in these instances as I mentioned we simply slip transmission back and pound it out from inside the bell housing with a punch we have made specifically for that job!

If this is such a common failure could it be worth doing it as a maintenance say at 100k? Seems a hassle if it fails in the middle of no-where

Great if you have a 4 post lift and can get to the car from underneath or the benefit of hindsight or experience never having done one before. :)
