I have a W203 C180 2001 111 engine (non turbo/supercharged) that has a problem with the Crankshaft Position Sensor. A couple of weeks ago the Engine Management Light came on and the engine would not start when hot, when I read the fault codes, P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor malfunction, came up. I fitted a new sensor (ebay special) but the fault remained, so I bought another new sensor (bosch) and the fault is still there, fails to start when hot (starts after standing for about 2 minutes) and fault code P0335 keeps returning after being cleared. I know that the system needs to learn that the new CPS is there so could the problem be that it's a slow learner or should I be looking elsewhere, wiring to the ECU, faulty plug/sockets etc. For members who are also on "the other forum" sorry to repeat myself.
Many Thanks

I would check the wiring and the reluctor rings on the flywheel to make sure they arent damaged!

I don't know if you've sorted this, but just happened to my M111.955 C200 K. Replaced CPS and symptoms still remained. Someone suggested disconnect ECU to "reset" did this & found moisture under connectors (in small drops) considering the last months of rain & not using the car much suppose not too surprising! Dried & now problem gone after code reset. I've now got a bill I didn't want & also a spare CPS, so I will remember to check ECU if any more EML's appear.
