Crappy Radio Reception?

Use an earth braid - one specifically for grounding panels not a high current one for the starting circuit.
Get as much surface are connected when you connect between the aerial and the earthing point. That should improve matters.
 
Have you checked the remote cable from the back of the radio has not come undone?

Just make sure pin A5 of the factory harness is actually seeing the remote wire on the head unit.
 
Just thought I'd update this thread as solved.

It turns out it was nothing to do with the antenna amplifier at all, it was the crappy after market stereo that developed a fault and would no longer pick up a decent signal.

The radio was also draining my battery, which is how I discovered it was faulty.

I have now fitted a lovely Blaupunkt unit with bluetooth streaming + telephone, usb, SD card and a radio that works :rock:

Great to be listening to Radio4 again :cool:
