The offside front on my S211 is creaking worse than me when I have dug the garden! It was booked in to my Indie for attention but he is now closed.

Am I safe to continue using it for local shopping trips?

Mine was like that for about 12 months or more, most audible when creeping over the driveway threshold.

There was mention of some wear as an advisory one year and none the next so I just ignored it.

Of course, yours might be the sign of imminent full suspension collapse!

Was creaking just a little, but now it's most of the time!

Seems to be usually a dry ball joint that causes the creaking

But is it safe to drive for just local shopping trips until my Indie reopens?

That's difficult to say without anyone looking at it, standard advice should be if in doubt don't drive.

Saying that though I'd think it highly unlikely it would break and i'd give it a look over yourself for anything obvious and satisfy yourself that nothing is going to fall off.

I wouldn't drive it. If its creaking, water had got in the joint. They then corrode and can or snap or pop out. It probably had play in it hence the water ingress. The consequences of failure can be quite dramatic.

Thanks Olly
