My CLK 208 (2001 - 80,000k) has very creaky front suspension when turning at low speed first thing in the morning. Seems to improve on the open road. But back again in low speed turning - like parking).

This has been going on for over a month!

Ant ideas on likely cause, repair and cost.

Possible dry front ball joint or steering arm ball joint.
Also get the spring checked as well

It is very likely to be the bottom ball joint. Try pressing down very gently on the wing, while listening.

New joint time.

If the noise is only present when putting steering lock on it may be the steering damper, mine was. I took it off to eliminate it and ran without until MOT time with no noticeable ill effects.

Check your sway bar bushes along with the other things... Could be an easy fix!

hi,
If the car were mine I would be looking at the front ball joints as others have said, on other models these ball joints can shear, so I would get them checked sooner rather than later.
Not to expensive, and not to hard to do, IIRC about half hour labour per side.

Ball joints won't shear on a W202/208/210 as they are under compression, not tension.
