Credit check

I have never owned Mercedes Benz so decided to try one instead of my usual BMW and Saab. Went to the showroom and drove the CLC 160 that is a bigger difference to a 2.0 turbo engine but I liked the car. Put down a deposit of 1000 pounds and the dealer came back telling me that it would take 12 weeks. Credit check was ok. Now due to pick up the new car in two weeks and very excited.

The problem arises with Barclaycard who cancelled my direct debit instead of reducing my payments. They have now accepted responsibility but are reluctant to do anything about removing the late payment on my Experian credit report that I am currently trying to get removed.

My question is will it affect my purchase or did the credit check on the day of deposit count as the one they use for the finance? If they need to do a check will one late payment affect my purchase if I cannot get it remove starightaway.

I would appreciate any advice that you can offer me. x

I wouldn't worry about it, one late mark is nothing and will be regarded by most as a clerical error.

Enjoy the new car.

Hi, If this is the only bad point on your credit history then it is not going to cause any problems. You can however write to experian explaining the situation (include any documentary evidence) and ask them to amend their records.

andy.

Shouldn't be a problem. However, if you are using credit make sure they aren't loading the rate due to bad credit. If they are, tell them not to.

get one of them free credit checks yourself...it will show you your history and your credit worth.

then even give you a bit of advice to help you increase your credit rating. (like canceling old credit cards, reducing the amount you can spend on existing ones and so forth)

one or two late payments is probably not even an issue to the rating.

A host of them might be.....and some not paid would certainly be an issue.
