Well, all OK now! Free for all.! Or so some headlines last week would have you believe.

Not so. HMRC still their ususal charmless selves, only difference being that following a right kicking from the EU they now will not impound and crush cars on the first "offence" as a pure terror tactic. They will reserve that pleasure for later. Gordon still needs all the money he can get.

Pity not quite as much Governement effort went into keeping track of 500,000 illegals.

I do the cross chanel trip quite regularly and what I've found is they tend to leave you alone if you've been gone for more than 2 days.
Day Trippers are still targetted and given a hard time especially if the same car makes several trips in a year.

And it's still easier to get 200 Albanians in than 200 Benson and Hedges...:p

Ahh, but the 200 Albanians can go and work for the Home Office!

I never had any problems, but then again my Mum-in-Law always came with us  so the Customs men were probably far too frightened to stop us!

I take something far worse 2 girls

Usually come through unscathed apart from the time I drew attention to myself by going over a speedhump a bit sharpish, bouncing up and hitting my noddle on the roof of me 280.

Must have been all the waving, gesticulating and head rubbing that did it.

W124's are excellent for storing a goodly portion of the Euro wine lake nonetheless:)

I go ove with a van before xmas each year. Get stopped & questioned each time - on the way out and on the way back.
They seem happy with 1 trip per year.

one tip - norfolk lines from dover to dunkirk - much cheaper than calais... ;) - not that the fags are cheaper over in der nederlants ja...

I've done this trip a few times, must've been scary man......

Hmm I've crossed the Bay of Biscay half a dozen times now in sub 40 foot yachts. Each time I have done it I have had near death experiences.

Very dangerous waters indeed.

well dad an i go cople times a year
stock up with everything we need never had a problem.
£40 round trip thats for car 230 estate .. cabin on way out reclining chair on return plymouth to roscoff.. ( offers for cheap tickets in local papers)
cover the cost in the first few crates of wine.

usually spend about 5/600 quid each .. equivalent here would be about £1500 each i guess so its well worth a day of work to go over..

customs arnt intrested in people doin it 4 them selfs just the vans who go over to sell it on etc..
