First of all a Big thankyou to Matt at Motorway Sports Cars (01227 732233). Matt had arranged with his boss that we could have a gtg this morning and in the event, whilst I took some people with me, I was the only member of this forum which as you will here was a shame.

Its got to be said Scotth is one fortunate man because I saw a car identical to his and it is lovely. It is also a reskined SLK!

The pictures of the engine bay below, could be straight out of an SLK. Mercedes 3.2 with all the ancilliaries, all the parts have MB numbers and logos on!

Make no mistake the Crossfire is a Mercedes with a snazzy suit on!

The Crossfire drives beautifully. The car I drove was an Auto (thank goodness!) The standard familiar 3.2 Mercedes Engine as used in the SLK, CLK, E class as well as others is excellent in this smaller car. The MB box is magic as ever and the engine is SOOO smooth.

The SLK influence is everywhere, I'm not totally sure about the silver console but the feel is good. The top of the dash is a solid enough but not just as good plastic as the SLK. However, thats really the only bad news because the car to drive, look at and listen to is ACE!

Handling: As Scot said it would be it is virtually impossible to unstick those rear 19 (Yes 19 inch!) rear wheels. Seldom have I felt that a car was more stuck to the road. The Levels of grip available far exceed the Brabus SLK I tested last year.......Yes Really!

Performance: Exactly as you'd expect from a 215bhp engine. 0-60 is sub 7 secs, mid range torque is good. Its no C43 but pretty fast.

Sound track: That exhaust noise is roughly 300 times nicer than the MB noise!

I'd strongly advise not being a badge snob with this car, it looks, goes, sounds great, seems well put together and given the choice of the Brabus slk (admittedly a 2.3 kompressor) or a crossfire.......I'd take the crossfire because its a better experience. It has presence and performance and is cheaper as well.

I'm sorry some of you couldnt come today but if you are still interested then ring Matt and he will sort something out! You might have to miss out on the Popcorn, drinks and lollies though!

Once again Big thanks to Matt and sorry I couldnt get the kids out of the Grand Voyager, they just liked it in there!

Glad you feel the same way I do. Great fun car, and ther silver plastic dash is a not the end of the world, but you can see it from there. Everything else is just fine.

Careful turning off the traction control though, an aggresive right foot mid roundabout will change your direction quickly and may cause trouser staining.

I dont know which 3.2 it is but its a lot of MB technology for the money and comes with added "smile" factor!

It is the SLK320 with a new skin on it and diff wheels which certainly saound to do the bizz on road-holding.

I've heard nothing but good reports on it from that perspective.

Glad you had a good day - sorry I couldn't make it :( Pic's are great - thanx :D

Thanks Pammy. I know You would have loved it! You have gotta drive one of these you will just be chuffed to bits with it.

I sense a visit to our friendly DC dealership then :p
