Hello All,

Im new to mercedes and have a C200cdi and am very pleased with it, apart from the fuel consumption. Not displeased with it yet as early days and cold weather so will see how the fuel consumption is over a longer period.

Can anyone advise if the cruise control which I think is active and can apply the brakes leads to heavy pad use.

I wouldn't have thought so, if it does apply the brakes you would possibly be doing so to prevent speed gain going downhill in any case, so likely to be insignificant in the overall scheme of things.

W211s have been around for years with active cruise control and brake drying fuction and I don't recall seeing anybody complaining about brake wear because of this.

In practical terms it's not an issue.
