how or what do i need to open a CSV extension file, any ideas.

Excel or Numbers... or one of the online document viewing sites. In a pinch you can open them in a text editor and look for the information you need but it might be tricky to find the correct column depending on the layout.

Coma Separated Values (CSV) files can be opened by Microsoft Excel or Apple Numbers.
