Cup holder for 129 series SL

Hi

I found this part number on the net for the cup holder.


"129 680 01 58 is the part number to the cupholder insert."

Could anyone confirm if this part number is applicable for UK cars.

My dealer has just quoted around £80 + vat for the part and it apprently includes the sliding cover.

I though that the part was an insert??

They look real handy. At the moment I use the centre console which is a pain as it means the top has to be left open, the arm rest is out of action and it's not very accessible for the passenger.
Also got the split unit box with tape holders and cigarette lighter/ashtray.

Peter - loved the interior, esp. the wooden cover for the cupholders, was that a mod?

Tan - let me know if you manage to get the split comaprtment into one.
I've struggled to remove the tape holders in the past. Started to come out, but seemd to have a catch holding one side in.

No I believe that it was standard for the cup holder, on the 99 facelift. But I lost the lighter and ashtray for it

Sorry I could not do this in the week but if you want to know who to get at the cassette holder,

1) open the lockable consol

2) remove the 4 screws (two towards the back two towards the front)

3) lift the whole conole top off (includes the mounting round the top of the cassette holder

4) pull the cassette compartment

5) fit the swanky cup holders

6) replace the console lid ...
job done !

Both were better than my screwdriver and hammer method.

Peter: Thanks for the tip will have a look at the weekend.

Tan: Did you go to the stealership or elsewhere for the cup holders in the end?

Quite happy to lose the tape (what were they? ) holder and cigarette lighter/ash tray.

Yes, the parts department at the dealerships sell them, most would have to order it in.
