Picture the scene, 3pm New Years Eve.
Pull up at my works local co op. In a completely out of character act I slip the local exceptionally chirpy big issue seller a fiver (I'm usually a tight miserable old git).
Get in my car, cue engine management light and limp mode, bugger bugger bugger. Curses the gods !!!
Limp to Toolstation to try and get a obd reader. It's 1 minute to 4 and have to grovel with the nice lady to serve me as she's trying to shut up.
Plug in the obd comes up fuel rail low pressure. So gives me somewhere to look. Lift bonnet and remove engine cover. Straight away I can see problem. The engine cover has trapped the fuel rail loom onto the block. There was a large burn mark and could see the copper of the bare wires just before the plug !! Fortunately managed to find some solder and shrink wrap in the tool bag, borrowed a lighter from some kindly passing skaggies
and did a temporary repair.
So despite all my cursing it really could have been alot worse, I'm really surprised the car actually drove and didn't burst into flames ! Especially as my last car was subject to total fire loss and still showing on my insurance history !
So perhaps my unusual for me selfless act did supply some good karma for a change
