Yesterday i booked to test drive a used GLA at my local, and duly received confirmation by text of the time, venue and salespersons name for this afternoon.

Turn up today...

Blank look on the reception desk....the salesman wasn't in today....another shiny suit came over...sorry that car isn't in this site as it hard to source due to production delays due to the success of the new A series (wtf??? It is a used car you list in stock...)...and the shiny suit had a note is diary to call me and tell me the car wasn't available....but “hadn't got round to it”. This was for a 3pm appointment.. clearly MB don't understand customer experience...

I wouldn’t buy an ‘approved used’ car after reading some horror stories on here.

I’d buy private and save a few grand, the warranty they give you on an ‘approved used’ car isn’t great anyway IMO.

I’d rather save the money on purchase. Appreciate everyone’s different though.

And the name of the Dealership was ?

I had a similar experience in Glasgow. First of all, couldn't find the salesman who made the appointment; then when somebody else eventually found the car it had a flat battery; then they couldn't find a technician who could operate the charger. Eventually had a test drive after which they offered me a rubbish price for my car, so I walked, never to darken their door again.

Dealership in Aylesbury.

Used to be the privately owned Hughes Group, now owned by Vertu....

For me it's more about 6 months protection under the Consumer Rights Act than any warranty the company give you.

Private sellers have an inflated view of their cars worth. When I was looking to buy my E Class, private sellers of equivalent cars were asking as much as dealers and in some cases what MB dealers were asking. Throw in the benefits of an approved used and it was a more sensible decision to buy from MB.

To add some balance, I’ve just had brilliant service from the people at MB Dorchester.
Slapped a deposit down on a rather special C63 early Friday morning. Popped in to see the car today (seriously, it’s like a brand new car!!), deal and paperwork all done and it’s being delivered in the week.
Their chap Jack was very professional, polite and courteous. Can’t fault the buying experience. Was the easiest car our purchase I ever made.
Thanks MB Dorchester [emoji106]

My mum's had two approved used Benz's from MB Carlisle (they were reasonable but not outstanding in terms of customer service) and both she and I now both drive approved used Benz's from MB Coldstream (who are fab - wouldn't consider any other MB dealer :thumb: ).

There's good, bad and indifferent in every organisation.

If anyone is considering an approved used, we would heartily recommend Coldstream. They in turn where recommended to us by our indie specialist in Carlisle

The Palladium silver one for £24k at Coldstream or the black coupe at Newbridge for £31? Either way, I wish.....but as I hope to retire in less than 18 months some AMG will be considered as a present to myself!

Just to clarify that Coldstream and Newbridge are two of the three dealers under the Eastern Western stable. I only have experience of Coldstream.

Sorry to read of your experience, which is poor from a dealership that based on what you've said is not working hard enough to deserve your business.

Both of our most recent MB purchases were approved used from MB Chester (formerly Newgate Motors in Chester, now Mercedes Cheshire Oaks). Prior to that our A-Class and SLK were purchased as new cars. In all cases the customer service has been exemplary.

When we got our current S205, we got the test drive we requested. On collection we had a 'reveal' event and proper walk-through handover just as if the car had been brand new (plus it had been nicely detailed, so it looked very shiny indeed). There have been a few things done since under warranty (Aux Battery, Lower Control Arm, Comand Update and Airbag Recall) without any quibbles or pushback. Again throughout, the dealership has been excellent. Anything less is unacceptable.

Don’t even get me started in the Inchcape outfit in Oxford.

Test drive booked online, for a specific car, time and date and received an automated confirmation by email with a note that the dealership would call to confirm...

Heard nothing since...

Southport Mercedes treated me very well, when I bought my E class coupe from them
and also had my 1st service
(A) done by them, no probs at all. :)

Was very happy with the purchase of my SLK at MB Exeter, organised a test drive at 10am on a Sunday morning and arrived at 1.00 pm , had excellent service. On collection great service with collection from our hotel, full reveal etc , despite it being over 6 years old! Rear bumper respray was done to a very high standard and they even filled up the tank with petrol as the fuel warning light was on when we went to collect it.
Unfortunately they had not serviced and MOT'd it ( as due within 90 days ) despite confirming verbally that they had done so, hence we did not bother checking the paper work. Rang us two days later to ask if they could send a driver to collect it as they had realised their error! As it was 350 mile round trip I declined and said we would have it done at the local dealers at their expense. This was done so have no complaints and as we took out a service contract through our local dealer it has worked out well ! Would certainly use them again despite the hiccups!
