My profound thanks for posting this!

My parents served, my uncles served, my aunts served, even my both grandfathers served in both wars .
My mother reserved as an LAC then to WA in the Royal Air Force. (1936 to 1946)

My father was in the 6th airborne (3rd Para) who as an advanced attack party dropped into a field near Ranville at 3,35 am on the morning of the 6th.

I am looking at his photo now on my office wall taken at the 50th anniversary outside the memorial to the fallen Paras at Ranville. Blazer, medals, and his red beret!

My two uncles were in the Ox & Bucks regiment as Beach Group.

Sometimes it's good to be reminded of the sacrifices that were made on our behalf.

Thanks for posting this as a reminder.

Visited Arromanches and the Musée du Débarquement for the first time the week before last. Just like the WWI battlefield sites, it's impossible to imagine the scale of the task and the sheer determination of those involved until you see it yourself.

Thank you to all who sacrificed their future so that I could live mine.
