DAB 'Device Unavailable' Message

Well, I took delivery of a 2015 E220 convertible last Friday. DAB was fine until today when I started to get the Device Unavailable message. I am in the North West and I note most of the folk with the problem have been in the South. Is there any more recent information about resolving this issue? Thanks.

Hey all, recently collected a 2014 E63 that is doing this, what is the verdict? Software update from Mercedes?? Very annoying!!

Yes software.

My CLA 2022 had radio issues, went into dealer and they found an update for the mbux head unit, must say it seems a lot better but I'm spoilt as I have a great home system and car ones have so many variables noise etc.

Yes software.
Thanks, will they charge for that do you think? It’s going in for an A Service soon anyway, just want to check if other people were charged or not. Thanks

My 2012 c63 was under warranty when mine was done for £0.00

Hi all, installed a GTA CarPlay unit in my 2014 GL, which works fine.

However, I had to adjust the COMAND MOST function settings to activate the AUX mode in Engineer mode, but subsequently lost DAB to ‘device unavailable’ since the install.

Could the changing of the settings in engineer mode have changed the DAB tuning frequency or region, or even the polarity of the aerial?

If so, anyone aware of which settings in Engineer mode change these parameters?

Hi , in my C207 the DAB radio still works , well it did when I left the car at the airport.

When the DAB system was first introduced into the UK the idea was when reception was poor the radio cut out , not like FM that produces hiss etc.

All I say that on my last trip to Shropshire , no reception apart from the Petrol V6 conducting the cars own orchestra, bliss.

This normally happens for various reasons
a) You turned the volume down b because the V6 sounds much better
b) Some interference in the car is blocking the signal - dashcam, USB power adapter (in cigarette lighter)
c) Rarer, failing antenna amplifier
d) Interference between the COMMS module and DAB antennas (happened on a number of 207 coupes , they made a better antenna amp to help solve this)
e) A software bug that causes the tuner to reboot because >99 stations have been received - you get "Device unavailable" on the radio screen when this happens

Hi Richard ,

Thank you for your reply.

You are correct that generally the V6 does sound better.

However , I have owned my car from new and the first two years the reception was terrible but I went to Portsmouth the radio found so many channels and that appeared to wake up the system.

I keep a stock of CDs in the car that Mrs Boyband stuffs into the player slot when the radio is not working.

I play the % game in that I would rather have a good service most of the time than rather let the service department mess up the DAB radio.
