DAB reception in new car is crap

I have a C220 BT. Car is only one week old but so far so good with DAB. It has worked exactly as I would expect I haven't discovered the Google maps and send to car feature. Will have to look into it

It's a non mercedes app on play store " send to car"
You have to load destination from Google maps via send to car app, send it through the app then turn on Bluetooth tethering on your phone.
Go to navigation, and search mercedes app destinations which will be waiting for you.

You get street view and opening times etc. You can call the hotels or stores from command.

Can't get 'send to car' to work. Just keeps coming up with invalid account :wallbash:

You need to add your car vin number to the app.
Then you can search google maps on your phone from anywhere . Go to an address. Share via the send to car app. Then use Bluetooth tethering on your phone when you get in your car. Navigation, destination. Mercedes apps. Choose location

Before I did all this I went online in the car and set up a Mercedes app account using my gmail.

Back to dab, went to merc today. Another 2 c250 amg coupes c204 and an e class all having dab issues. When they figure it out they will book me in and I will update the solution.
They said there's also an 1.5 hr recall to do on my vehicle. I wasn't aware, car is dec 14, might be worth checking out for recall too if u have a c204

I set up the Mercedes App in the car and successfully sent a destination but I can't access it in the car. Or perhaps more accurately I don't know where to look. The instructions for the Send it to Car app don't help.

Can you point me in the right direction ?

Also my Traffic Info has disappeared :fail

I know this doesn't add anything to the conversation, but noticed the title of the thread as :

"DAB reception in new car is crap"

Which could have been left as:

"DAB is crap"

Sorry, couldn't resist!

That's why it was the only option I didn't specify when ordering my car.

Hi All,

My DAB drops out a lot more than my Jag did on the same route everyday. Has anyone had this fixed by MB or is it just not as good?

I went to Mercedes last week about something else. There was a few c class coupes and an e class with DAB issues. The e class was running tests and they said they will sort mine out when they know what the issue is.
My salesmans demo also had dab issues.
The tips mentioned on here has nothing reported
If I find out what the issue is i will post in here.

Omg lol!
your e class is the one that was in lookers workshop when I was there complaining about my dab. I've got my recall booked next week I'll ask them then. Thanks for update

I have a Dec 2014 E Class and my DAB is useless too - volume keeps changing and sounds like a stuck CD player. Also the Comand audio fadeout does not work even with the option ticked - Merc did an update a couple of days ago due to info on TIPS but it is now worse than before!

My c204 had its recall and I asked about the dab.
I was told they're waiting to hear if the e class dab is resolved, then they'll order the same parts for mine and a few others
I'll keep the thread updated

I had a retrofit DAB in my Audi which was OK (ish) but gave a few dropouts.

I bought a brand new C-Class 205 in December and the DAB reception has been superb - very, very few dropouts on my usual routes and I'm a happy camper.

Reason I mention this is that my C Class is in today for other issues and they gave me brand new 180 CLA.

The DAB in this thing is almost unusable - on the same routes I'm used to that give no reception issues in the C-Class, this thing dropped out for several seconds at a time and at least once per song. It was, IMO, pants - worse by far than the £200 retrofit Audi unit with the dodgy windscreen antennae!

Hope you get it sorted / got it sorted?

Car was in the dealers last week for a safety recall and I aksed them to look into the DAB issue. Thy acknowledged it is a known fault and have ordered an amplifier from Germany to fix the problem - I will let you know the results once fitted!

Hi Guys,

Same here, had the one that was mentioned for the e Class, dealer fitted it and its a lot better

Any news on dab?
Ive ended up having a aftermarket antenna as they exhausted all ideas apparently, still crap cuts out alot in areas where in other cars it don't, a standard aerial from another car placed on back parcel shelf was alot better, there is an issue with the coupes but Mercedes will not admit anything

Reception on my new E300 is appalling.
I live towards the edge of the reception area for our local BBC radio station. In all past cars, FM reception has never been a problem, and I could travel a further 30 miles away from the transmitter and still have perfect reception.
Now with the DAB I don't get a signal, and even travelling towards the centre of the reception area the reception is very patchy.
It is not only the DAB reception though. Coverage is very slightly better when i manuaaly tune to the FM signal for the same station, but it is still very significantly worse than the FM reception in any other car I have ever owned.
Incredibly, I am driving a £40,000+ new car but have regressed 40 years to listen to my chosen radio station on AM, with all the associated hisses and crackles.
