Hi, I have had a dash cam fitted to my c350e, but the garage couldn’t find an ignition circuit and so it is powered all the time including when I leave the car, so I’m having to remember to turn camera off at its switch. I have been looking a another dash cam that is attached to overhead console and connected to rain sensor. Is this safe to do so, as the company assures me it will power off when I turn the car off

Why not wire the dash cam you already have to the rain sensor? Not that I would recommend that but it's not the camera that is the issue but the garage that fitted it not being knowledgeable enough to find the correct circuit/fuse.
I'd seek out another garage or better still auto electrician

In my e class, it is connected to the headlight fuse I think, which is at the end of of the cockpit display panel, driver side, when u open the door, there is a plastic cover which you open to access the fuses, not sure if you would also have this in your vehicle.
