Really miss having temperature display on more than just one screen. Can this be changed via STAR?

Actually, anybody have a list of what is possible outside of standard?

a. On my previous W203, the following STAR mods were done by Alfie:

- Delete UK mod (restores outside temp display on instrument cluster)

- Show quantity of fuel left in fuel tank and range in miles

- Fold/unfold side mirrors with fob (requires electric mirrors)

- Display full date in instrument cluster

- Alarm sounder beeping on lock/unlock (separate function to the main horn beeping once on lock)

Comand Europe would know which of the above are applicable also to the W204.

b. The following are either possible, or may be possible, on the W204:

- Set DRLs to become dim but remain switched-on when the headlights are switched-on (by default the DRLs go off when the headlights are on)

- Set ECO to 'remember last position' on engine startup, as opposed to 'default to ON'.

- Set transmission program to 'remember last position' on engine startup, as opposed to 'default to C (Comfort)'.

Thanks Mark. I understand a lot of things that could be done on the 203 cannot be done on the 204 hence the question.

Your time appreciated as always

Can the standard brown/beige colour that came with earlier w204's be changed to the black and blue/silver colour scheme found in the 2013 models onwards?

Mine is the former, be good to have a refreshing dash colour, if so can then be done from the star?

Apparently, it can be done via a firmware upgrade, but not on all models of NTG4.5.

My understanding is that NTG4.5 Gen1 had the Papyrus theme, while NTG4.5 Gen2 came with silver/red theme by default.

It is possible to upgrade NTG4.5 Gen1 to NTG4.5 Gen2 by updating the firmware (Gen1 and Gen2 share the same hardware), after which the silver/red theme will be available.

(NTG4.5 Gen3, aka NTG4.7, uses different hardware, therefore an upgrade from Gen1 or Gen2 to Gen3 is not possible).

You really are a mine of information!!

The inevitable questions - how do I check with Gen is installed and how to update the firmware if required

Cheers

COMAND firmware upgrades are done using STAR in online mode, so this is a job for the dealer (or Comand Europe). I think that the upgrade from Gen1 to Gen2 requires Vediamo, but either way it's a STAR/Xentry job.

You can tell the version via the engineering menu, but as a general rule Gen1 is 2010-2012, Gen2 is 2013-2014, and Gen3 is 2014-2015.

Thanks for the replies
