One of the faults I was not aware of when I bought this car (W209 CLK 350 Cabrio.) was that the EML light was not coming on. I sent the cluster away to Autotronics who have diagnosed that someone has tampered with it via the EEPROM? and they are not able to fix it as they can only fix hardware not software.
I am now at a loss as to who to speak to next, has anyone got any suggestions/recommendations?

Cheers

Coded out?
Hope your car isn’t one of the ones in the “bad balancer shaft” range.
I would imagine it would need an indie with STAR and experience of coding stuff back in - or a main dealer update.

Hi, it is a Dec 2005 and so is in the range but fortunately I had the car put on STAR system and it did not show balance shaft issues, it did show the Intake Manifold issue (P0106 & P2006 which I had done) and also UO155 (which is communication with instrument panel) which is the EML light issue and so no Balance Shaft Problems at this stage.

I have also carried out the visual check and all seems OK at the moment.

My main job is to get this EML light working and so I will contact the Indy that carries out the original STAR as well as a main dealer for prices.

Any other suggestions greatly received!

Surely if the error code that triggers the EML has been coded out, there is no code for STAR to read/log?

It Read the intake manifold code and this was fixed and so I assume any other codes would have appeared as well. Just spoken with Autotronics who told me that they loaded "donor" software from another cluster onto mine and it worked, EML light came on etc. Obviously this "donor" software showed incorrect mileage etc. They are 100% confident that the fault is with the software of the cluster and this needs recoding?

So...Any Mercedes Indy's near(ish) to Sth Lincs that would be able to help me with this?
