Gutted, one of my heroes.

Seriously, no pun, he was one of the greats.

Listen to any Stranglers song and pick out the bass and keyboards and you'll see what I mean, Walk on by is a great example.

Should perhaps add that The Stranglers were not one of my favourite bands. Saw them once in '76 (I think) and after about 20-30 minutes, there were more people in the bar than there was watching the band.

Dave was the composer of Golden Brown and had been unwell with heart problems before falling to COVID-19.

I spray-painted The Stranglers logo on my school bag. I liked the Clash, the Ruts, The Damned and so on but I liked The Stranglers A LOT.

contracted the virus following a prolonged stay in hospital for heart problems.

So the COVID may be a bit of a red herring. Sad though, whatever the cause.

As ever, Hospital acquired infections tidy up delayed recoveries from surgery.

According to the stats, monthly UK deaths due to ischaemic heart disease are down 50% after the arrival of Coronavirus.
