dead key c204

Hi Guys,

I am probably going to drive you all mad as I am new to the world of Mercedes,

I picked up my C220 Coupe yesterday and it comes with 2 keys,

however 1 of the keys is completely dead, doesnt unlock or lock the car and it would work in the ignition either,

is this just a flat battery or would the key still start the car if the battery was dead?

Hi if you got the car from mb it may be the key for another car. A work mate bought an e class and was given a second key from another car. And it took know 6 weeks to get him his spare key. I would go back a drive the other car off the forecourt. To speed things up. Just a thought. To check take the key out the remote. It's pushed in the top of the remote. And try it in the door lock. The old fashioned way. Turn the key in the barrel. If it works maybe flat battery.

You may need to reset the key with MB or either the battery in the key is dead. This car's don't use power in the key for ignition purpose. Battery in the key is for locking doors and Windows.
