Hello, I am trying to replace the Audio 50 APS system with a NTG 4 command unit.
My car is a Mercedes E class coupe C207 from 2012 and I got this unit: A 212 901 17 04 from a W212 sedan from a scrap yard. The problem is that it does not start even though it is connected.
Nothing turns on, it does nothing. It is not visible in Xentry either.
Does anyone have an idea if the position of the pins in the plug needs to be changed?

I checked the fuse behind the unit which is 20A and it is good.
My unit works normally, so it has power.
Do I have to reprogram another module in the car to be able to start the unit I bought? the tests were done with the 5.8" display which has the same plug.

Thank you

Welcome.

1. As far as Iknow, the display isn't interchangeable between the units. I.e., you'll need a COMAND NTG4 display, not the old display from your Audio50 unit. The displays may look similar, and the cable connector may also look similar, but your old Audio50 display won't work with a COMAND head unit.

2. While units from a W212 will technically work in a C207, the bezels / facia panels aren't the same, which is why you should get a COMAND unit from a C207/A207 (or possibly even a W204/S204, which is what the C207 is bassd on). You may be able to modify the facia, I don't know, but it's not ideal.

3. I don't know if Audio50 to COMAND NTG4 conversion requires SCN coding, it's definitely required for the newer NT4.5 unit, but I'm not sure regarding NTG4.

4. I am aware that NTG4.5 is locked to the car VIN by an anti-theft PIN code, but I don't know if the same applies to NTG4.

Good luck.

Thank you, I appreciate your help, the control display is on the way but seeing that it is the same connectors I thought I could test the unit.

Regarding the control panel of the NTG unit, it is identical to both models, the only difference is the panel on which the controls for the heated seats and the various functions, such as ECO or PDC are located, but this is a distinct part. Although it is attached to the NTG unit at the bottom with four T20 torx screws. This being the used one of the car.

No SCN is needed to upgrade to Comand 4.0, this was also the reason why I did not choose a more recent version.

I'm not sure yet, but if it will start together with the right display, I guess I will find out if software updates are needed for units such as: the telematics unit or the MMI interface.

I am also not sure if I will have to update the cluster software because in the navigation menu it should show the route.

Thanks.
