Hi people, my sclass (w222) is due a b service and I have been quoted £892!!

My question is how important is a dealer stamp?

I have a guy i use to service a few other cars as he is literally next door to my unit. He is a very good mechanic as he has been doing it for 20years+ I have asked him to only use genuine parts from Mercedes which is not a problem. He is a genuine bloke who will spend nearly all day on the car to do a proper service. He has done an eclass for me in the past and he even showed me all the old filters and old oil he replaced

If i get the car done from him im looking at around £300-400

Is it really worth and extra £500 to have Mercedes do it and get a Mercedes stamp?

Thanks

I would personally to keep all the warranties valid if the vehicle is still under 3 years old.

This.

Alternatively stamps from a reputable specialist will work as well, but not so much generic stamps from KwikFit etc.

The advantage of dealer service is mainly the stamped book (paper or digital) and Mobilo plus the rust warranty.

The advantage of specialist service used to be that it is cheaper than main dealer service, and that you know exactly what has actually been done to your car - with dealers you just have to trust them.

But with the MB Service Plan, there is often little difference in price between dealers and specialists, which leaves only the advantage that with specialist service you can be assured that your car has been well looked after.

Thanks for the advice guys the cars a 63 plate so the warranty ran out at the end of last year only done 16,000miles since new
Ive checked the service plan which is coming out to £42pm on a 3 year plan. Would you say this is the best option? Is using the independent garage a no then ha??

I have taken out a service plan on my E350 (2012). Am I right in assuming is covers everything on a service apart for wear and tear parts (brakes etc.)?

Yes.

It covers any item that needs to be replaced as a matter of course at fixed intervals (time/mileage), as opposed to those items replaced 'on condition'.

All items showing here should be covered:

Ok just got off the phone to Mercedes and they have quoted £61.50 per month paid over 2 years and this is for 3 services. service B that is due now, another service in 2018 and another in 2019. Is this the best route to go down? Im only doing about 4,000miles per year dont know if that makes a difference lol

I'd pay that, as essentially it's £492 per service inc VAT.

I just bought my c class with only 40k and it comes with digital service book with nothing in it and has no services stamps or no place to put any if I took it to another garage. Do I need to buy a stamp style service book or something?

Just walk into a local MB dealer and ask for a printout of the digital service record.

While there, ask about MB Service Plan... you may get a good price on delear servicing.

Alternatively - some indies can update the MB digital service record, but if not then it's not really an issue - just keep the receipt as proof.

I have never received a service book but when I have a service at MB as well as an invoice I receive a printout of previous service history with key items listed.
