Decent Indy near Derby, or use MB? ATF

Hi all

I'm waiting on a dipstick for checking my auto tranny oil. The car shifts ok, but I'm not sure it's ever had a change (89k, 17 years old). Not sure whether to get it changed or not, so I'm going to check the level and colour of the oil before deciding.

I've done some reading, and although it looks like a straightforward job, I would scream if one the sump bolts snapped off and I was faced with drilling it out etc, plus not sure I'd save much money doing it myself, maybe an hour's labour, if that.

I'm dubious of garages, and although my old C200 is worth pence, I love it like my child, and I need to be certain that the right oil is used, and the right procedures followed. If I lived nearer Portsmouth then I'd use that Olly fella, as I've just been looking at his photo set of changing the oil on an auto box

So...does anybody know a tried and trusted garage in or around Derby?

Alternatively, how much would MB charge for the privilege? And again, has anybody used Mercedes in Derby?

Try the MB Center in Colwick Nottingham 0115 9506050 ask for Andrew or Nick. Cannot recommend them enough. Took my R107 for annual service did everything I asked. As I will be entering it for the National Concours this year they took all the bits off the engine to give me access for cleaning and allowed me to use their lift and other equipment without charge. Labour rate is £55 ph + vat.

Have you thought about Mertrux?

I think that will be my first port of call the look of it.

There's a local firm that claim to be German car specialists well, but from what i can see the reviews are a bit mixed. Hate going anywhere without a solid recommendation.

Ask I right in thinking the pukka Mercedes oil will cost me about 80 quid to fill the box?

I would not hesitate to drive to Birmingham and get ACID and the guys at MSL to do it you will not find a more professional bunch of guys with the best customer care you will find anywhere , These are the ONLY people that will be working on my car again

You will not be disappointed in the service you get from them I had a new gearbox and torque convertor supplied and fitted by them , awesome service
