Letherique is the only product I know that will penetrate through the coating on leather Bruce, if you use the product on MB leather it will lift the PVC and paint layers till you get raw leather, the leather will then become noticeably softer and more supple as you continue to use the product. You can also use Leatherique to fill any cracks you may have in the supercheap leather MB used on the 124's and refurbish or renew the paint/PVC finish with their products if you want to continue to use the softener and have genuinely softer more supple leather. I know of no other product that will actually soften old cardboard leather - just as you say.
GFP, refurbish those seats and grab a can or two of Cavalier Bremworth wet carpet cleaner to freshen the interior, the rest of the car looks pretty good to me. As for people commenting on what your car is worth, who are they to say, how do they know what has been done to the car. The buyer is the only person who knows what the car is worth to them - nobody else. I find it a bit insulting to say your car is too expensive, how do they know the engine hasn't been rebuilt and trans replaced with a genuine rebuilt one from Daimler, and new drive shafts with new suspension & bushes, steering new, hood and cloth layers new and so on, just start adding that lot up and you are selling a bargin!
Colours are also very subjective, the crimson red, grey/silver and black cabbies are stunning to me, as is colour 189. However the one that went for 25 000 pounds was white and owned by the Saudi embassy - white obviously being very important to them.
