I have oil, which appears to be coming from the front upper control arm bush, I’ve done a little research, but I’m getting conflicting answers, are these bushes oil filled? I’m assuming they are, as I can’t see the oil coming from anywhere else, thanks in advance.

Well people, I’ve done a bit more digging and found they are indeed, fluid filled, thanks for any further input though, you may be able to give. 👍🏻

They are called 'hydrobushes' for a reason... yes, they are oil filled, and yes, they can leak.

I had mine replaced, but my advice to others is to replace the entire control arm (including the ball joint on the other end), rather than replacing only the bushes - the work required to replace the bushes within the arms negates any saving on the parts. Oh, and the car will need to have the tracking checked afterwards.

Thanks for the replies, yes I think I’m going to replace all four whilst I’m at it, pretty simple job, so I might as well.

I've checked my glc against the vin and all mine are solid rubber .

Bushes are

Obviously yours may be oil filled as it's a different model.

Here’s a view of the problem, not my car, but exactly the same. IMG_3355.jpeg

The replacements will be solid rubber, but you cant tell the difference between them from the drivers seat.

Proper explanation here:

Yes, we've gone a long way since the original Mini! :D
