Definitive production dates W209'CLK

I have been asking questions regarding a W209 CLK I am thinking of buying and it seems at least some people do not believe the date of first reg. it is given as 22/05/2002. I am told these were not produced untill 2003. Can anyone shed any light on this. Is it a pre production car, a press car, or what. I do not have the VIN NO. But thevreg is KP 02 VWY. I appreciate the reg may not be original but if anyone has any thoughts or ideas I would like to hear them.

The 200k 240 and 320 petrols were all introduced in 2002. Not sure exactly which month.

Honest John had a road test in July 2002 so May registration would not be too far out for an early one, MB dealer or press car?

There was an overlap in the W208 and W209 the earliest the W209 was registered is March 2002 the last W208 manufactured in 2002 was registered in January 2003, hope that helps.
