Deisel or Diesel

I have just bought a E300 diesel estate (W124) M reg

Looking at the tailgate badge it says DEISEL.....
I rubbed my eyes and looked again . ...yep DEISEL.
I'm certain it is the original Merc badge.
Can anyone out there say if this spelling was used by MB ?

I have just googled deisel and nothing is available with that spelling.

It would be interesting to find out the origin of the badge in question.

Callingdx, I think you should edit your post to remove your Vin no, especially if you are going to post a picture of the rear of your car with the number plate in full view.

Ringway - Yes I've only given the VIN and not the numberplate
