I love this sort of thing.

All over the country real life Del Boys are on the make. For these wheelers and dealers, every item, no matter how unlikely, is for sale. When it is time for fresh stock, they head to so-called 'Trash or Treasure' auction houses, where they sift through lost property, repossessed goods and house clearances in an attempt to discover the lot that can transform them into millionaires.

Richie and Nikki have been playing the auction game for the last decade - trading in everything, but specialising in gold. At a pre-auction viewing day they spot what looks like a valuable silver coffee set. Can they win the lot in the face of tough competition from the local big-player? And will the picture illustrations they win be as valuable as Nikki hopes?

Auction addict Sharon has given up a steady job working in a chemist to become a professional trader. Alongside long-suffering husband Al, she's now turned their house into a stock room filled with all manner of junk. The couple have scrapped together a few thousand pounds from their trading but now Al, fed up with the small-time, wants to gamble all of their savings on a second hand Porsche.

Ieuan works in a supermarket in Pontypridd, South Wales. He dreams of being a millionaire and spends all his spare cash at the local auction buying and selling anything he can make money on. He spots what he thinks is a valuable Rolex watch. Will it be his ticket to a new life as a full-time trader?

In Braintree, Essex, Brian comes from a long line of rag and bone men. He makes a good living buying and selling all sorts of junk no-one else wants. A house clearance contract nets him a three-cornered cabinet he thinks could be worth tens of thousands.

Watch episode 1. LINK.

This time next year they'll all be millionaires.

Had to laugh at Sharon and Al though. After two years of trading, they've made the grand sum of £3k. Between them.

Give them their credit though - at less they're getting off their backsides and trying to earn a living :)

Better than the thieves of this world and the Jeremy Kyle show specials who are still in bed whilst the rest of the world are trying to get on with their lives.

Ok I had to laugh at the Welsh boy who was convinced he'd bought a Rolex for £12 and they're not likely to be millionaires but as long as they're keeping themselves busy and not harming anyone good luck to them!

Good watch, better than most, at least they are having a go and I bet there will some winners

I liked the foray into car dealing. Cheap Boxster = good idea. Pimped up Granada Hearse with shot alternator & starter motor and terminal water ingress = less good idea.

Porsche

I think it was just as well they didn't get the Porsche at that money, could have cost a lot of money putting it right.

Yes, probably still a better punt than the hearse though. Perhaps 'good' was the wrong word to have used, I was more drawing attention to how their strategy changed wildly from saying they'd spend no more than £2.5K on a Boxster at auction to unseen horror on eBay.

I also enjoy things that show real life/people - Secret Millionaire, Benefits Street, The Sheriffs, The Apprentice, even allowing for the scripting/editing.

Soaps - they just wash over me (did you see what I did there?) and yet I know others who won't move until they have had their fix of Corrie etc.

Each to their own.

I've set it on Sky+

(other extremely expensive ways of seeing hundreds of channels of complete rubbish are available)

Episode 2 starts in 5 minutes.

What strikes me is how hard it is to scrape a living doing this - I blame John Sullivan's Lesser watch episode.

I caught the end if this tonight and it looked to me like they'd spend more on fuel than make in profit.

^^^^

+1 on the fuel and running around costs. Can't see much profit there.

great tonight ,go to france to an auction and don't speak French then walk out and say its crap, think they lost money on that trip, again made for the tv
