Del Boy's Capri & Freddie's RR up for auction

I'm surprised at the Roller's valuation.

The car looks mint, and with all that history, got to be worth more than that I would have thought - not to mention who owned it before.

I'm at the show on Sunday - do you want me you bid for you?

Hey, I'm just a great pretender.

I guess it is subjective with the person who wrote that article - but I would rather the Roller over the Capri without any mention of who owned what or prices. To then find the Capri is nearly 3 times the price of the Roller is bizarre.

I think the final prices will be more telling.

Will you see the results of the auction John? (Developer215)

I was there today and inside the Coys arena. I asked a Coys guy when the auction results would be published (the auction was yesterday) and he said it took a couple of weeks.

I knew it.

Even without the link to Freddie, how could a nice condition Roller make less than a ropey old Capri...

Curious to find out what the Capri went for now.

Update.

There seems to be conflicting info over the price Freddies Roller fetched. £73,000 according to the write up in the attached link.

It also says that bids for Del Boy's Capri failed to top £12,000 and as such was not sold.

Coys, Autosport sale report

it was in a pretty forlorn state with rotten sills and the front wings about to part company from the hull

The Rolls looked nice in the picture :(

Tis' surprising what those rollers are going for nowadays:

ROLLS-ROYCE SILVER SHADOW 6.8 AUTO - 1975 | eBay

A cleverly worded advert I think.

Looks stunning - Only looks? No mention of any rust?
Solid engine and gearbox - What about the body & chassis?
Immaculate Brown cloth interior - Not the best option.
No mention of any service history.

I hate to think how much a service would be on one of those. I would guess it's probably about the same price as the car is advertised for.

These cars have lost their appeal due to the cost of sevicing, fuel and road tax and anyone who can afford to run one can probably afford a newer model. Wonder how long he's had it for sale?

I would imagine there are many more RR of that era still being used than Capri.
Ergo the cheaper Capri could be worth more because of its greater rarity value.

I think if they were that desirable, the value would be higher anyway.

Then maybe lesser Richard the Third's like the green one might have more demand to restore and sell on?

Further on it also states £65,000 which is what Chris Evans mentioned on the radio this morning. I assume the £73,000 then is after auction fees etc?
