Evening folks

My first post on the forum so hello! :)

We were lucky enough to find a nice 69 plate GLC 300D back in April before the prices rocketed- they've gone mad now!

It's due it's B service on the 03/11 and I have booked it in for the 20th Oct. Mulling over the three service package (B.A.B) which is £1440. My friend who works at Mercedes has told me they've been told there will apparently be a black Friday servicing event but no details as of yet.... I am hoping it may be the 20% off which I gather they did before.

I have already asked the service dept for a discount with no joy so I am tempted to cancel my service and hang on.

Will there be any warranty or resale issues if the service is three weeks late? The car isn't even on 10K yet so mileage isn't an issue.

Many thanks

There's an official 'grace' period for late servicing, from memory it's 30 days, though it might actually be 60 days. Your Mobilo roadside assistance won't apply beyond the 365 days since the last MB service, but any warranty you may have won't be affected as long as the next service is carried-out within the 'grace' period .

Thanks Mark that's very helpful- should be fine then. I didn't even know I had Mobilo or what it was ha! Essentially RAC cover which I have through work too so hopefully won't cause an issue going without for a couple of weeks.

Mobilo roadside assistance is renewed free-of-charge for 365 days following a service at an MB dealer.

The advantage is that you can request a Mercedes-specialist van which will have STAR diagnostic computer for roadside diagnosis.

The potential downside is that if you break down, they will only tow the car to an MB dealer, but not to any other (non-MB) garage.

If you do decide the cancel then I would suggest booking a new appointment now rather than wait later, our local dealers are busier than ever.

So keep the current booked service appointment, then when the special offer materialises, book another appointment, and only cancel the original appointment once the new one has been successfully booked.....

Also - have you considered the MB Service Care Plan?

I believe it’s the Service Care Plan that the OP is hanging on for, albeit at a Black Friday discounted rate.

FYI Theses discounts have typically only applied when paying in full up front.

Thanks chaps, I haven't paid anything yet. Was just going to pay the three service package outright to get it out of the way!

For your info my discounted service plan was taken out on 28th October 2020 and if I recall correctly I sorted the plan the first dat the 20 percent discount was available

Smashing thanks mate I'll call them and book it for next month when hopefully they'll be a deal on! 20% off £1440 isn't to be sniffed at!

I've been delaying getting a service plan for this reason.

This reminded me to check how long out my local dealership is booking services and luckily it is not months out, unlike another German high performance brand who were 3-4 months out when I last booked a service!

I don’t think MB have done ‘black friday’ deals on service plans for quite some time now. Don’t think they did last year? I took out a 3-year plan on one of my cars last year with 20% off but I’m sure that was back in the summer?

I've booked for the end of November so still within the month of it being due- fingers crossed they'll do some sort of deal! My friend seems to think they will so will wait and see!

The 20% discount offer was available on 28th October 2020 as I took it on a 4 year plan. Had to pay upfront to qualify for the discount but it was worth that for the significant saving

Fair enough - I found the thread where it was first discussed last summer:

I think I remember something about the offer being extended at the time? Either way, it started or was available at least back in the summer - and don’t think your one would have been a Black Friday deal last year? :)

I took a Mercedes Benz service plan out last year in August that was a very good deal but the condition was all payment upfront....the deal was 3 years servicing for the price of two years,so deals do occasionally apper.

They haven't offered the 10% Black Friday discount since 2017 as I recall. As mentioned numerous times above, there was the 20% discount on plans if paying upfront. Just be aware that if you take out a service plan it has to have run for at least 2months before you can claim a service, so factor this in along with being able to go a month later from when the service is due.

I live in hope that something will arrive :). Useful information about the 2 months but for me that looks all good.
