I do oppose the death penalty as a matter of principle, regardless of the severity of the offence committed or how safe the conviction may be, but I agree that this type of crime deserves the maximum sentence available in law.

Did they actually do it...?

The Guildford 4 trial judge expressed regret that they had not been charged with treason, as he then could have sentenced them to death. At the time he and the jury were in no doubt that they were guilty.

There's no back tracking from capital punishment.

A known sex offender, who assaults and rapes a child, should have his rights protected so we can all go to sleep happy to know we live in civilised society.
