This and that.
One of my ex-employees thought himself a bit of a pc whizz, and he wasn't. He's buggered about with his Dell Latitude D600 laptop, to the extent that the maximum resolution I can get out of it is 1024x768. I have other D600's which go higher (to 1280, I guess). Also, on this one, the graphics are really poor. Everything is blurred; icons and web-graphics. I've updated the display drivers, and tried everyting else I can think of.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thx

PJ

;) I can only think of graphics drivers. Try checking in the system properties hardware list and see if there is any conflict. I had a similar problem when I put a new graphics card in my lad's PC I had to disable the onboard graphics for it to work properly, until I had it was awful - but easily resolved, if that's what the problem is of course ;)

That's exactly what I was thinking Pammy. I've never had more problems with pc's than when trying to change graphics cards.

However, this machine is as it came out of the box. The drivers came off Dell's website, and are linked to the pc specifically by what they call the 'Service Tag Number'. Therefore, in theory, I've now got the machine exactly as it was when it came out of the factory. Except it isn't, and the new boy isn't too chuffed.

I've looked in the bios, and all over the internet, but so far I've got nowt.

I have, I think, got a solution though. I'll buy a brand new, really flash laptop, and give him my old one. :D

Assuming it's running XP, andyou have the latest drivers in a folder on the C: drive..

driver download here

Right Click My Computer, select manage, select Device manager. In right hand pane, select Display Adapters, then select un-install. This will remeove the driver from the registry, etc. Reboot, and reinstall driver from C:\dell\R98704 folder. You may need to reapply SP2 and the Intel Mobile Chipset Driver as well.
